Recently, I took a family vacation that I thought would be just another enjoyable getaway, a break from the usual routine. (Spoiler alert: I was wrong 🤪)
What I didn’t anticipate was how much it would turn into a much-needed reset for my mind, body, and spirit.
As I returned home and settled back into my usual surroundings, it hit me – this vacation filled me with a deep sense of peace, vigor, and renewed energy.
On the flight back, I found myself listening to Luke Combs’ song “Going, Going, Gone” on repeat – for 90 minutes straight, no joke.
There’s something about that song that struck a chord with me. While its theme is about a love that’s been lost and beyond repair, the lyrics stirred something within me about embracing change.
In a way, it felt like the song was a reminder that change (whether it’s the end of a relationship, the close of a chapter in life, or a shift in our professional direction) is constant. No matter our age or stage of life, change is and always will be inevitable.
And rather than fearing it, we can choose to embrace it. We can choose to use that energy as fuel for our next steps, our next plans, and our next goals.
The days I spent together with family on that trip gave me the space to disconnect from work and the distractions of everyday life. I was able to reconnect with what truly matters—family, nature, and the simple joys of just being present. It was a time of reflection, relaxation, and, most importantly, reconnection with myself and those I care about.
I’ve noticed a profound shift inside of me since I returned. It’s like a fog has been lifted, and with it came a surge of motivation and clarity.
I have some exciting things planned over the next few weeks and months, and I’m eager to dive in. It feels like I’m on the cusp of something kickass—personally and professionally.
This trip was a stark reminder to on the importance of stepping back from our routines. It’s not just to rest but to renew ourselves. We often get caught up in the busyness of life, pushing forward without taking a break, and forget how crucial it is to recharge.
Taking time away, whether for a day, a week, or a month, isn’t just nice—it’s necessary for our well-being and growth.
Here’s to embracing the unexpected resets in life and allowing them to fuel our journey forward.
As you plan your next reset or getaway, here are a few questions to ponder:
- What change are you currently resisting, and how might you embrace it instead?
- How do you usually feel when you return from a break or vacation? What can that tell you about your current life rhythm?
- What simple joys or connections have you lost sight of in your daily routine that you might reconnect with during a break?
